Social video sizing guide

Match the frame to where people will watch

Aspect ratio controls the shape of the video, while pixel dimensions control its resolution. Viddash combines both into platform presets so a landscape source can become a vertical Short, Reel, or TikTok, a square feed post, or a 4:5 portrait video.

01 / VERTICAL

Use 9:16 for full-screen mobile video

A 1080 by 1920 frame is the standard vertical shape for TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories, and YouTube Shorts. Keep faces, captions, and calls to action away from the extreme top and bottom where platform controls may appear.

02 / FEED

Use 4:5 to occupy more feed space

A 1080 by 1350 portrait frame is taller than a square while still fitting conventional feeds. It is a strong choice for Instagram and Facebook when the main subject benefits from vertical space but the content is not a full-screen story.

03 / CROP

Protect important content from the edges

The current resizer fills the selected frame by cropping overflow. Preview the composition before publishing and keep logos, subtitles, products, and faces near the center when converting between landscape, square, and vertical ratios.

Direct answers

Video resizing questions

What video size should I use for Reels, TikTok, or Shorts?

Use a 9:16 vertical frame at 1080 by 1920 pixels for Instagram Reels and Stories, TikTok videos, and YouTube Shorts.

What aspect ratio works best for an Instagram feed video?

A 4:5 frame at 1080 by 1350 pixels uses more vertical feed space, while 1:1 at 1080 by 1080 pixels is the standard square option.

Will resizing crop part of my video?

Yes. The current presets crop the source to fill the selected aspect ratio, so content near the outer edges can be removed. Keep faces, captions, and logos near the center safe area.

What format does the resized video use?

Viddash exports resized videos as MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, a combination designed for broad social-platform and device compatibility.

Does Viddash keep uploaded videos?

No. The source and resized output are temporary processing files and are deleted after the export is delivered.
